Ironworkers Monument (life-size)
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac
Bridge, the ironworkers who made the bridge possible
were honored with this life-size statue. The
worker is depicted walking across an I-beam, carrying
the heavy gear commonly used in such projects. The
authenticity was guaranteed by casting replicas of
the tools actually used by the men on the job.
